Affirm acquires Hodge’s ‘Top Knocks’

Affirm Press has acquired ANZ rights to Australian cricketer and commentator Brad Hodge’s nonfiction book Top Knocks, via TLA.

The publisher said that Top Knocks will count down 20 of the greatest Australian batting performances over the past 50 years. As well as ‘revisiting, analysing and celebrating each innings’, in the book, Hodge ‘interviews the star batters to see what they think of each particular knock and, even more interestingly, what they were thinking at the time,’ Affirm said.

Affirm publishing director Martin Hughes described Top Knocks as ‘catnip for cricket fans, and the countdown to the greatest innings will surely spark passionate debate this Christmas’.

Hodge, who was one of Australian cricket’s most prolific run scorers, and who now commentates the game in Australia and India, said: ‘As any cricketer knows, the really great achievements are more than just the numbers, and I have loved revisiting each innings with the batters themselves to reveal why each was so special.’

Affirm plans to publish Top Knocks in October.
